Postcode Checker

Does this location count as specified work?

Enter the postcode of the work location (4 digits) to check it against the official Home Affairs list instantly.

Don't know the postcode? Search the farm's address on Google Maps — the last 4 digits of the address are the postcode.

The three most common misunderstandings

  1. It is the work location that counts, not the company's head office. Many farming companies have offices in big cities but farms in the country; what matters is where you actually work.
  2. The same postcode can give different results for different work. Farm, meatworks, fishing and construction work use the "regional" list; tourism and hospitality count only in "Northern Australia" or "remote and very remote Australia".
  3. Areas around big cities often do not count. For example, farms near Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth may look rural, but their postcodes may not be on the list.

Real examples: these places do not count

JBS Dinmore beef processing plant (JBS Australia)

Dinmore / Riverview (Ipswich)・QLD 4303

Postcode 4303 (some JBS Dinmore roles are listed under 4304) is not on Home Affairs' list of regional Queensland postcodes (updated 2026/09/24): the list is "4287, 4307 to 4499", so 4288 to 4306 are not included. Even if you do slaughtering, boning or cutting, days worked here do not count toward a second / third visa.

Teys Australia Beenleigh (Logan River Road)

Beenleigh・QLD 4207

Postcode 4207 is not on Home Affairs' list of regional Queensland postcodes, so work here does not count toward a second / third visa. Don't confuse it with Teys' Rockhampton (4701) and Biloela (4715) plants, which are on the list.

Costa Mushrooms Mernda mushroom farm (Costa Group)

Mernda / Doreen (Whittlesea), northern Melbourne suburbs・VIC 3754

3754 is not on Victoria's regional list (the list jumps from 3753 to 3756); it only appears on the natural disaster list, so farm work does not count. The natural disaster list only covers post-disaster recovery work, so even picking mushrooms here would not count toward a second / third visa.

Costa Casuarina mushroom farm (Costa Group Mushroom Category, 45 Orton Road)

Casuarina (southern Perth metropolitan area)・WA 6167

Growing mushrooms is the right type of work in itself (the Home Affairs definition includes "cultivating or propagating plants, fungi"), but 6167 is in the Perth metropolitan area and is not on any official list: Western Australia's Regional Australia list (Table 4) only covers 6041–6044, 6055–6056, 6069, 6076, 6083–6084, 6111, 6121–6126 and 6200–6799; 6167 is also not on the WA Remote and Very Remote list (Table 1), the Northern Australia list (Table 3) or the bushfire / natural disaster lists. So days worked here do not count toward a second / third visa. It is an easy trap: the same company and the same job would count at Costa farms in other eligible areas. For comparison: Bullsbrook (6084) on the edge of Perth is on the list, but farm work in Wanneroo (6065) does not count — 6063–6068 only appear on the bushfire / natural disaster lists, which only cover post-disaster recovery work.
