Horticulture assistant (picker / farm worker)
Work duties
Harvesting (including picking), planting, irrigation, pruning, crop management, packing and quality control; the crops are blueberries and citrus.
Pay method
Hourly / piece rate
$33.05/hour (ALA Horticulture Agreement 2016, Level 2); minimum piece rates: citrus $30 per bin, blueberries $4 per kg (as stated in the ad). Pay follows the Fair Work Commission's annual review.
Hours
At least 120 hours every 4 weeks
Requirements
Willing to produce citrus and blueberries safely and efficiently, Used to a farm environment, Good communication, follows instructions, No asthma or dust allergies, Physically fit, able to do heavy and repetitive work (picking buckets often weigh over 15 kg), Can work independently and show initiative, Can work with a multinational team, Live locally or willing to move to Gin Gin
